I have worked with gaps in education for 15 years within the public school system. Long before Covid-19, high stakes testing programs required students to be passed along to the next level without any regard to their grasp of the subjects. Consequently, I student entering high school might have gaps of one or more years, creating a massive obstacle for the student that can lead to a lack of confidence and eventually giving up altogether. I pride myself on helping students in this situation discover their current knowledge level and then bridging the gap to catch them up with their peers.
