Hello everyone! My name is Chidinma Okehi (Chi-Chi for short), and I am very excited to be here! I graduated in 2018 from TCU with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and with Chemistry and Spanish minors. While in school, I was a student athlete and also worked as a tutor. Due to my many time constraints, I had to find the most efficient ways of learning my own materials as well as teaching my students theirs. With this in mind, I was able to teach my students time management skills by showing them easy ways of remembering the material, quick ways of checking their answers and, most importantly, being patient with them until they mastered their ability to come to the right answer on their own. I am also a firm believer that there is always something more a student can do. When a student has nothing left for me to help them with, I make practice questions in the areas that they might be struggling the most.
I officially began tutoring in July of 2017 where I tutored for a company called Math Around the Corner. This company offers a one-on-one approach to tutoring its students in a space where tutors and students meet at their designated times. This company caters to students who need help keeping up in a variety of subjects and to which I was a good fit given my diverse background. Here, I tutored Biology and College Algebra to one college student, I tutored Spanish, Algebra 1 & Algebra 2 to three high school students, and I tutored chemistry to three other high school students; this took place over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. More recently, I have started tutoring for another company very similar to Wyzant where I have been exclusively tutoring Chemistry and Algebra 2 to two separate high school students for half a year. I also offered voluntary, peer-oriented tutoring to my fellow athletes and classmates throughout my time in the university.
I enjoy helping students understand the subjects that I love. I want my students to have the utmost success while I work with them, so they can take the knowledge they gain from our sessions and apply it effortlessly in class. To do so, I am open to any advice or resources given by the student and/or parent, so I can incorporate it into a plan for success. I usually have wonderful availability, so scheduling shouldn’t be an issue. If you have any other questions, concerns or would like to schedule a session, feel free to contact me! Thank you.
