My name is Nick P. I am a math and science teacher / tutor / mentor aiding students mostly in the areas of mathematics and science, along with general life and study skills. I began my teaching path in the winter of 2002 when I began working with the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education at New York University. I earned my BA and MS degrees from New York University with a concentration in biology, chemistry, economics, and general science, and obtained teaching credentials in science education from Fordham University and City College of New York. I have been actively involved in the education sector for almost fifteen years, teaching in private and public schools, and providing services to educational institutions in the greater New York City area. I enjoy the outdoors, taking nature walks, hiking, and am active in the area of personal development. I am also a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor, and have been practicing yoga and conscious living for over ten years.
Tutoring subjects: middle school math and science, pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, trigonometry, pre-calculus, Earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, AP biology, science elective courses, SAT math, ACT math/science, SAT 2 biology and chemistry, and life/study skills.
I have always had an inclination for the education of others. As far back as I can remember, I never turn down the opportunity to explain something when people do not understand, especially when it comes to math and science. I have an intuitive ability to quickly recognize students’ disconnects, and provide support to make those connections for students. To me, teaching fulfills a higher purpose. Knowing that the future leaders of this world will face many coming challenges, teenagers and young adults must immediately be guided in such a way that will prepare them for the coming challenges that humanity faces.
