Hi there! I am a graduate student at Teachers College of Columbia University pursuing an Education Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. This is a bit of a departure from my undergraduate studies, though, as I majored in History and minored in Urban Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Before changing my career path to become a psychotherapist, I aspired to be a history teacher. These two jobs have one essential thing in common: they both involve working with and helping others.
Since my junior year of high school, I have been tutoring kids in a variety of subjects. In high school, I helped middle schoolers with math homework and studying for standardized tests. Throughout college, I worked with middle school and high school students. I did one-on-one and group tutoring with students in math, history, english, and some SAT prep. My previous students have boosted their GPA's, excelled on standardized exams, and improved their writing skills. In addition to extensive tutoring experience, I have mentored 7th graders and worked as an education researcher. My style of tutoring is student centered and focused on finding pathways to solutions and studying methods that work for you. I like to do check ins with my students at the beginning and end of our sessions to see how they are doing, and make sure we're on the same page. I am committed to engaging with my students and am open to feedback on how I'm doing. I aim to sharpen my student's skills in any given subject, expand their knowledge, and improve their grades, all while facilitating the least stressful experience possible.
If it seems to you like we might be a good match, please reach out! I look forward to hearing from you :)
