I am an astrophysics PhD graduate student at Johns Hopkins University... specifically conducting research in cosmology (the study of the universe as a whole). I obtained my bachelor of science in astrophysics and a minor in physics from Villanova University. I have experience tutoring (and teaching in the classroom) physics, math, and astronomy for almost 5 years now. I especially love physics and am excited to discuss problems and find solutions with students. Together we can discover the wonders of the universe one problem at a time!
I've mastered these concepts as part of my higher-level physics studies. But I also recognize that it takes a special ability to be able to relay these concepts to students in an approachable and digestible fashion. I like to break things down and go step-by-step checking along the way to make sure my students follow and can reproduce results on their own.
I LOVE tutoring physics because it can be so naturally conceptual and beautiful when students discuss a problem and have a "light-bulb" moment of understanding. I have tutored physics and astronomy in many capacities both in-person and online and also in larger groups of students in a classroom at a whiteboard. As a teacher, I see my role as a facilitator to build confidence and understanding in problems so students can feel comfortable moving forward on their own.
Please contact me if you're interested- I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about setting up a session, making a tutoring plan, or setting goals and how we can achieve them.
Also contact me if you just want to chat about the universe!!!
