I am an adjunct professor at Chapman University, and I specialize in English, Study and Time-Management Skills, Reading, Writing, and the Arts. I have five years' experience working with elementary school kids K-5th grade, my most recent job being an elective teacher for LA's Inner City Education Foundation. I graduated from Amherst College with a degree in history, and hold a Master's Degree in Film Studies from Chapman University. I have over 10 years of tutoring experience from kindergarten through college. While at Chapman, I served as the university's designated private tutor to help students who were struggling academically in their first year of college. I am currently an adjunct professor at Chapman and I tutor in Literature, English, History, Film Studies and Production, Theater, and Drama. I am an expert test-taker, and coach students in effective study strategies, note-taking, and time management. I am also vibrantly creative, easy-going, and patient. There's nothing too intimidating for a student to learn! I am great at breaking down complicated subjects and making them accessible (and interesting) to students--especially kids--and provide training in memorization and retention so that students can apply what they learn outside of tutoring sessions. Providing students with study tools they can own and use in the real-world is where it counts.
