Teaching Philosphy
Hannah Junco is an energetic and patient piano teacher with a background as a classical pianist. Hannah is the director of Shine On Music Studio as well as a piano instructor and vocal coach.
She uses a solfege-based teaching method that teaches one to read music notation and trains aural skills as well. Hannah’s teaching philosophy incorporates brain-based pedagogical knowledge, using unique approaches, such as colors to activate synesthesia and hand signs to improve memory. With years of experience teaching for various piano studios, Hannah is flexible to adapt her teaching style according to the students’ background. She has worked with a variety of ages and the neurologically diverse.
Music Biography
Hannah achieved her undergraduate degree in piano performance at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where she studied under pianists such as Tian Ying and Kevin Kenner. She has since performed solo and collaborative piano in local concert series such as Miami Virtuosi and has traveled to Israel to perform at the Fermata Festival. She studied classical voice with Nobleza Pilar, yet expanded beyond genres into realms of Flamenco/Sephardic, Jazz, and songwriting. She has performed vocals on WDNA with the Frost Latin Jazz Ensemble, and continues to perform locally in Miami. She has returned to University of Miami and is currently pursuing a masters in musicology with a focus in Latin America, Jewish studies, and cultural crossing. When she is not teaching piano and voice, she is collaborating with her husband Wolfkant on their project Classical Unleashed, a marriage of classical sensibilities and improvisational Afro-Cuban aesthetics.
