HI, my name is Jacqueline! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and a Bachelor's of Arts in Classics - Latin. I realized in college the classes I enjoyed most were not always the most interesting ones, but rather it was the professors who made the classes unforgettable. They were always engaging, enthusiastic, and presented the material in a comprehensible way. It was the ones who went the extra mile and had actual pride and enjoyment in teaching when I asked for additional help or needed clarification.
I use the same approach in tutoring, and do everything I can to make learning an enjoyable experience. I use lesson plans/outlines in which I usually introduce the topic in a fun and creative way, then explicitly teach the material. Afterwards, I always ensure time for my tutored students to practice and review the material on their own. Of course, this method can be adjusted based on the subject matter and the student’s individual needs.
I have a year tutoring biochemistry and calculus at the university level, but I also worked with elementary school children, getting them up to grade-level reading and mathematics.
