While completing my Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science I developed a passion for helping students learn CS. After teaching introductory and advanced courses at university, I started one-on-one tutoring. The most rewarding part of tutoring is focusing on the needs of individual students. My strongest languages are Java, Python, and C, but I have experience with many other languages and tools.
I have a bachelor's degree in Social Work. I have experience working in a school setting as I did my internship at a small district down in the RGV. I also worked for a year as a Family Engagement Specialist for Communities in Schools that serviced five middle school and five high schools. I followed that up with being an AR Zone Specialist for a year at an IDEA middle school down in the RGV.
As a tutor, I want my students to feel that they are in a safe space that is not only designed to help them feel motivated and ready to learn, but as well as as a space in which they feel emotionally supported. I want my students to feel that they can come to me with any issues that many be interfering with their learning. A space that is not only educational but can be fun as well.
